An electrician/ professional boxer is 'thrilled' to add another win under his belt from his London match.

Bare-knuckle fighter Mick Terril fought in Wembley Stadium against US 'legend' Sam Shewmaker on July 12. Someone who was feared for his punch but Mick did not fear him at all.

With his recent win, Mick's Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) fighter record is at 5 wins,1, loss, and 0 draws.

"It was my first time in Wembley. I was not nervous before the fight but the atmosphere was electric," said The 39-year-old of North Shields.

"Winning the match was amazing and seeing everyone there to support me was great.

"After I was announced as the winner, I accidentally went to the wrong corner where my friends were sitting instead of where my family was but after I found them - it was great to celebrate with them."Hexham Courant: NewsquestNewsquest (Image: Newsquest)

Mick, who is often found in Haltwhistle helping local businesses,  started boxing when he was 24 after a career change.

"I was a little late getting into boxing as at first I was a professional footballer, but I kept getting sent off the pitch or/and getting red flags," Mick said.

"My friend told me about a boxing gym where I could go.

"So I trained and found that I liked it, then a year later I had my first match - which I won.

"At first I did Thai boxing but now it is bare knuckle boxing.

"I really enjoy it as I fight and train all over the world."

Mick has a lot of sponsors, including Terry Christie - the owner of The Manor House in Haltwhistle.

Terry adds: "The main reason I sponsor Mick, he starts his day doing roadworks, then goes home to make breakfast then goes to work and does a 10 hour shift, goes back home then goes to the gym then makes his kids tea.

"He is a family guy and I take my hat off to him. His commitment is amazing and I have no idea how he does it.

"I went down to Wembley to see and support Mick at his match against Shewmaker and it was amazing to see him at work.

"I am delighted for him when he won and I will continue to support him until he retires."
