AS Boris Johnson leaves Downing Street for the final time, we look back at when the former PM visited Hexham.
It comes as Liz Truss beat Rishi Sunak to become the new Conservative leader.
The former foreign secretary said Johnson was admired from "Kyiv to Carlisle", while Johnson said his successor had "the right plan to tackle the cost of living crisis" and "unite our party".
Johnson quit as Tory leader after a revolt by senior ministers after a series of scandals including partygate.
The Queen has now accepted Johnson's resignation as she meets Truss at Balmoral.
Here, we look back at when Boris Johnson visited Hexham General Hospital last November. He described the town centre hospital as an "amazing model of how to do things and how to get things right."
It came as £284m investment was announced for the NHS to modernise diagnostics and tackle patient waiting lists.
The PM saw the hospital's then new CT scanner and met staff receiving their Covid booster jab.
Johnson came under fire on the visit after he was pictured not wearing a mask; he was accused of "irresponsibly parading" around the site.
Some pictures of the visit showed Johnson without a face covering - while wearing a mask at other times.
In photos where he is without a mask, Johnson was seen elbow-bumping and greeting nurses who were wearing disposable face coverings.
The Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation defended the then PM, saying he had worn a face covering in each of the clinical areas he visited.
