A CARE provider has maintained its 'Good' rating following an inspection.

Tynedale Hospice at Home provide end-of-life nursing care, a hospital transport service and pre and post bereavement support to children, adults, and families.

They were rated as 'Good' in the categories of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in June.

In a report, published by the watchdog last week, inspectors said: "Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions.

"They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers."

The report added: "The service planned care to meet the needs of local people, took account of patients’ individual needs, and made it easy for people to give feedback.

"People could access the service when they needed it."

The regulator said the service should "continue with actions already underway to develop the use of patient outcome measures and clinical audits to include qualitative, as well as quantitative measures".

They added: "The service should ensure that key performance indicators are used to demonstrate the responsiveness of the service and how quickly patients are seen following referral."

Mike Thornicroft, CEO for Tynedale Hospice at Home, said: "The inspectors were all very impressed with the work of the Hospice and particularly the standards of care that we provide to the people who require end of life care and their families.

"The inspection resulted in the Hospice achieving an overall 'Good' rating. Since we were last inspected in 2019, the standards expected by the CQC have increased significantly during this time and so we are very proud to receive such a positive outcome."

Chris Orife, head of care services at Tynedale Hospice at Home, said: "Inspections are becoming more rigorous to meet CQC exacting standards. To maintain our 'Good' rating across all areas with no requirements noted for improvement is excellent.

"Tynedale Hospice at Home is a fantastic charity made up of a dedicated team of staff and volunteers and I am incredibly proud that the high-quality care we deliver for our patients has been recognised by the CQC."
