A COW, yes a cow, was spotted over the River Tyne on Friday (August 19).

Tomahawk Steakhouse Newcastle sent its hollow cow soaring across the sky as part of the restaurant's zip wire challenge.

Staff completed the NE1 Summer in the City zip line, put on by Jelly Legs, in aid of Great North Children's Hospital.

Head of marketing and business development Sarah Pike and social media manager Sophie zipped from the Tyne Bridge to the Quayside.

Sarah said: “With Tomahawk being based at the foot of the NE1 Summer in the city/ Jelly Legs Ltd zip line, it’s a no-brainer that we should participate in our fantastic city of Newcastle events, and what better way than to support such a fantastic charity right here in NE1.

"We're hoping to raise £1,000 to go towards the life-saving work the hospital does and every pound really does count towards the goal, and we appreciate everyone’s support for this wonderful charity."

The restaurant teased the news on social media in the lead-up with #mooOnTheTyne and #SteaksInTheSky.

The zip line runs from August 19-29 - and it's suitable for humans too!
