1 The Grapes Hotel, Hexham

The top pub among readers was The Grapes. "Not in often but I love it," one reader said.

"The Grapes Hotel without a doubt. Incredible atmosphere, fab staff, wonderful beer garden and amazing craic. Perfect local pub," another added.

The pub regularly hosts live music, organises charity events and broadcasts sport channels.

Others agreed saying: "The Grapes has the best atmosphere."

2 The Globe Inn, Hexham

"The Globe for sure," one reader said.

Showing live sport from Racing UK, At The Races, Sky Sports and BT Sport, The Globe also holds monthly live music.

3 The Tannery, Hexham

"The Tannery definitely. The bar staff there have always been lovely," one reader said.

"Tannery is pretty good," another added.

The family-run hotel contains a bar, bistro and shop with local produce.

The new bistro menu has light bites such as crispy chilli beef, Cantonese chicken, Bao Buns and crispy spring rolls.

The pub has recently been refurbished, and it has a walled garden and garden bar.

There are six hotel rooms which have also been refurbished.

"The County is very nice and the staff are very welcoming and friendly."
