A NORTH Tyne pub is among few in Northumberland to be featured in the new Good Food Guide.

The Barrasford Arms, which has previously featured in the Michelin Guide, has been included in the first 450 entries of the newly-digital guide.

It comes after inspection and assessment from the guide's anonymous team.

"It's amazing to still be included", said Victoria Eames, who runs the pub, restaurant and hotel with husband Michael, who has previously worked at the likes of Slaley Hall and Malmaison.

She added: "It gives an acknowledgement of a good standard of food of places for people to come and visit.

"We're lucky around us, we've got quite a few places."

Restaurant Hjem, Restaurant Pine and the Rat Inn are also among those listed - as well as The Hoebridge in the Borders and Audela in Berwick.

Restaurant Hjem, in Wall, was this year, named as one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK at the National Restaurant Awards. It was awarded a Michelin Star in 2021. Restaurant Pine, East Wallhouses, also has Michelin Star status.

Cal Byerley and Sian Buchan, co-owners of Pine, said: “We are totally thrilled to be included in the Good Food Guide 2022.

"It’s one of the definitive and most respected guides to where’s good to eat in the UK, and our entry in the book in our first year of business is a reflection of the hard work and creativity the whole team puts into making Pine what it is.”

Karen Errington, of the Rat Inn, Anick, added: "We're really pleased to be in there, we're delighted to be one of the first.

"We've been here a long time, we use all locally-sourced products and everything is cooked from scratch, so it's nice to get the recognition."

Over the summer months, more restaurants are due to be added to the app and in September, a new rating system will be revealed.

Restaurants will be rated ‘good’, ‘very good’, ‘exceptional’, and ‘world class’.
