FILM crews descended on Stocksfield as filming gets underway for another series of Vera.
New scenes of the hit, ITV programme were shot around the village - including at the train station, on New Ridley Road and Guessburn.
The garden of a house in Guessburn was used for filming, while a mock forensic investigation unit van and police car were parked outside, alongside Vera's iconic Defender.
The storyline is reportedly a murder.
Crowds gathered into the afternoon to get a glimpse of DCI Vera Stanhope, played by Brenda Blethyn, and she rewarded them with waves.
The popular programme was also filmed at Hesleyside Hall, near Bellingham, from Friday to Wednesday, and in Wall from August 8-11.
The crime drama is based on books by Ann Cleeves, who lives in Northumberland, and is filmed in and around the North-East.
The new series is scheduled to air in 2023.
Cllr Anne Dale said Vera's visit helped to put Stocksfield on the map. She added: "It was a wonderful, welcome occasion.
"It was a glorious day and it was great that the residents of Stocksfield were able to watch how an episode of a series is made.
"Everybody was very accommodating; residents could see the police, the landrover and sit and watch it roll out.
"It's really good for the area to establish Northumberland.
"It's always a great occasion to have such an opportunity to watch the filming of a series so important as Vera.
"It's also nice to have somebody whose a local writer (Ann Cleeves)."
