A NORTHUMBERLAND author has outsold the literature giants JK Rowling and George R.R. Martin in Amazon's all-time bestselling UK series.
LJ Ross's bestselling crime series is now the second UK bestseller of all time on Amazon, as reported by The Bookseller.
Her DCI Ryan series have been independently published since 2015.
It came second to Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels, outselling series including Harry Potter, Games of Thrones, and Discworld.
The novels are centred around main character detective Maxwell Finlay-Ryan, who uncovers the truth about North East mystery cases.
Each novel is set in a different Northumberland beauty spot, including Bamburgh Castle, Sycamore Gap, High Force and Kielder Forest.
More than seven million of her novels have been sold since 2015.
LJ Ross has even turned down mainstream publishing deals and instead set up her own company, Dark Skies Publishing.
Lee Child's Jack Reacher titles is the top bestselling book series of all time, while JK Rowling's Harry Potter novels rank fifth.
Rankings are based on Amazon sales and downloads, across physical and digital books up to May.
