NORTHUMBERLAND Labour is calling for people across the county to nominate unsung heroes in their communities.

The party has launched a nomination process that allows communities to nominate individuals or groups who go above and beyond on a regular basis and make a difference in their community.

The winner will be presented a Pride of Northumberland certificate and gift by leader Scott Dickinson and deputy leader Liz Simpson.

Mr Dickinson said: “We have strong resilient communities in Northumberland and that’s because of the work people do and the caring responsible nature of Northumbrians up and down the county who are determined to make positive impacts in their communities.”

Nominations open on August 5 and will run to October 5. The winner will be announced on November 1.

Deputy leader Liz Simpson added: “We all personally know people who are stalwarts of their communities, they do it not for recognition but everyone deserves thanks when they work hard.

"This could be an individual, a group of people, or an organisation. We cannot wait to see all the work come flooding in so we can say a great big Northumbrian thank you.”

Residents can nominate people by: visiting the Northumberland Labour Facebook page and finding the electronic nomination form, visiting the Northumberland Labour Group website (laboursites.org) and completing the form online or posting a letter no more than one side of A4 to Northumberland Labour, Office 2, Hadston House, Bondicar Road, Hadston, NE65 9SF.
