A businesswoman is looking forward to the launch day of her holiday cabin.

Catherine Cape is excited for the opening day of her holiday cabin 'The Hiddle Hut - Northumberland' at The Bents, Bardon Mill.

The opening is on Sunday, August 14. From 9am-6pm visitors can look around and also enter a raffle where the money goes towards St Oswald's Hospice.

The prize is an overnight stay in the cabin.

Hexham Courant:

"We always had a plan to build a holiday cabin," Catherine says.

"When we bought the house it came with a field so we always knew we were going to build the hut.

"The only thing holding us back was my job -  I was a primary school teacher until Covid.

"As I am medically vulnerable I decided that it was time to retire early. This allowed us to finally focus on our plans."

Reflecting on the finished product, Catherine is looking forward to opening it up to the public.

Hexham Courant:

She said: "Our aim was to make a place somewhere that me and my husband would go on a luxury cabin.

"We are in the perfect location for a staycation and we already have great business connections such as an e-bike hire in Haltwhistle and balloon/ event specialist to make any special occassion such as proposals or birthdays extra special.

"We have only had family members and friend to test the cabin out and we have had glowing reviews.

"Everyone seems to love it and so do we - I just hope the public do as well.

"It may look like an old farm house with a tin roof but it is two flooors of luxury and comfort.

"We think our cabin is perfect as it has breath taking views, dark skies for stargazing and all of the modern comforts to ensure you can rest, indulge and explore.

Hexham Courant:

"We have worked really hard to make sure that our cabin is unique and cannot be found anywhere else."
