THE grandson of a man who won a rose gold medal just before the First World War is appealing for more information about it.
William Conroy won the medal for the Cayton Charity Cup 1913-14.
William died in 1964 when grandson Aidan McGrevy was just seven-years-old.
Aidan believes his grandfather played for Tynedale FC.
Until his grandmother Cecilia Young died, Aidan said his grandparents lived at West End Terrace, Hexham.
Cecilia's family owned a local building firm and had a horse and carriage business, owing a house behind the old bus station.
