NORTHUMBERLAND residents who live in park homes or off the electricity grid are set to receive equivalent support to the £400 Energy Bills Discount.
It comes after campaigning from MP Guy Opperman after concerns were raised by people living in Tynedale.
Mr Opperman made representations to government ministers on behalf of his affected constituents.
Homes not connected to the energy grid were ineligible to receive the Energy Bills Discount as they do not have a domestic electricity meter and a direct relationship with an electricity supplier.
However, the government has now confirmed that further funding will be available to provide equivalent support of £400 for energy bills for the 1 per cent of households who would not be reached through the discount.
An announcement with details on how and when these households across Tynedale and Ponteland can access this support will be made this autumn.
Guy Opperman MP said: “I am delighted the Government has listened to concerns from residents across Tynedale and Ponteland, who were previously going to miss out on this crucial support to help assist with the rising cost of living.
"I will continue to make representations to ministers on behalf of my constituents who live off the electricity grid to ensure they receive this crucial support.
"I look forward to seeing more details on how and when these payments will be made in the autumn.”
