A staff member decided to have her entire head shaved to raise funds for care home residents.

Karen Moore, a carer at Dene Grange Care Home in Hexham, raised more than £700 for their care home activity fund during the home's summer fair.

The hair was cut by the homes' hairdresser Jackie Hawkes.

The idea came about when the staff at home wanted to do something big to raise a lot of money to treat the residents.

The care home's well-being lead Caroline Miskin said: "When discussing what we could do to raise money for our residents, Karen was quick to say she would shave off all her hair without hesitation.

"Karen has raised just over £700 for our resident's activity fund, which will go towards something special for them at Christmas - we are thinking of a pantomime."
