A YOUNG girl has donated her hair to cancer patients.

Five-year-old girl Millie Mckeever, of Hexham, decided to donate 10 inches of her hair to The Little Princess Trust to give girls undergoing cancer treatments more confidence when losing their hair.

It was Millie's first time giving her hair and she has impressed her mother with her maturity in trying to help others.

"Millie told me that she feels really good and very happy she did this," said Sophie Bowman.

"I feel incredibly proud of her doing this. Millie loves her long hair but she told me she would rather be able to give it to someone who needs it.

"Millie is so kind and caring and always thinking of others.

"I couldn't be more proud of her."

Hexham Courant:

"So far Millie has raised £200, which is more than we thought as we had initially set a target of £150.

"I am surprised that she has already gone past that thanks to the generosity of friends and family donating to the cause.

"Additionally, we have also had the support of the lovely people of Hexham.

"We would just like to thank everyone for their support."
