A RURAL first school has achieved platinum sports status.
Chollerton C of E Aided First School was awarded the mark after four years of achieving gold.
The School Games Mark awards recognise schools' engagement, provision and uptake in the Government-led School Games and celebrate young people keeping active.
The awards also allow schools to evaluate their PE provision and develop an action plan for future progress.
"We are very proud we have achieved Platinum Sports Status after four years of achieving gold", said head Hazel Davey.
"The children at Chollerton have enjoyed taking part in sporting activities and competitions organised by Active Northumberland. We have enjoyed whole-school workshops, e.g. Hoopstarz, after-school clubs, active playtime, challenging themselves on our running track and PE sessions with Becky from Active Northumberland.
"Our children know what they need to do to keep fit and healthy, and being fit and healthy is a priority."
The awards look at schools' participation, competition, workforce and clubs.
