A Freedom Parade was 'hailed' as a success as soldiers exercised 'their right' to march for the second time in Northumberland.

Hundreds of soldiers paraded through the streets of Hexham as 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery (3RHA) exercised its Freedom of Northumberland on Saturday.

Hexham Courant:

3RHA was awarded the Freedom of the County in 2016, shortly after the return of the Regiment to the UK following many years based in Germany and the parade marked only the second time the Regiment has exercised this freedom.

Crowds enjoyed watching the parade which also involved a military band, around 300 service personnel, equipment, and vehicles.

Hexham Courant:

Hexham Mayor Derek Kennedy said: "The parade was well attended and as 3rd Royal Horse Artillery have the freedom to march anywhere in Northumberland, Hexham was happy to host and welcome the soldiers and families to our town."
