A NEW ticket machine has been installed at a town centre car park.

New parking measures were introduced at Maiden's Walk, Hexham, in February.

Under the new system, automatic number plate recognition has been installed at the car park serving M&S and B&M.

Cash payments have also been stopped and Blue Badge holders must pay to park.

The changes have attracted considerable debate and now, a new machine has been installed.

In a social media video, M&S Hexham said Hozah had installed the new touch screen machine near the car park's disabled bays and that it is more user-friendly and sheltered from the elements.

M&S also said the machines will now print two tickets, one for the motorist to retain and another to knock 60p off an in-store bill if spending over £5.

Adderstone Group is the landowner; the managing agents are Carter Towler LLP. Parking enforcement is monitored by Workflow Dynamics Ltd and Hozah oversee payments.
