THURSDAY night's episode of Love Island saw former Ponteland High School pupil Adam Collard couple up with Welsh paramedic Paige Thorne.

It comes after Cumbrian rugby pro Jacques O'Neill, who had been coupled with Paige, left the Majorcan villa to concentrate on his mental wellbeing.

In the first recoupling since Casa Amor, Newcastle-based personal trainer and gym owner Adam was given first pick as the newest islander.

The 26-year-old, who made a shock return to the ITV2 dating show after first appearing in 2018, described Paige as “beautiful and funny”, and said she “hadn’t had exactly the most plain sailing time in here but I am hoping I can change that”.

Hexham Courant:

The islanders also found out that viewers at home had been voting for their favourite girl and boy, with those receiving the fewest votes at risk of being dumped from the island.

Girls Summer Botwe, Coco Lodge and Tasha Ghouri, and boys Deji Adeniyi, Josh Le Grove and Andrew Le Page received the least votes from the public.

The result will be announced tonight (Friday) ahead of the long-awaited return of  'movie night'.
