The Allendale May Fair is back.

The popular festival takes place this weekend in the village square opposite the Golden Lion and Kings Head pubs.

On Saturday, doors will open at 10am, whereas, on Sunday, doors will open from midday. Parking is available at Allendale First School.

One of the committee members, Jodie Nichol said:" On Saturday visitors can expect the usual mixture of market stalls and performances with the addition of rides supplied by Dune.

"The local favourites, the Catton Line Dancers will strut their stuff alongside the children from Alston dance, the Hexham Morris, and Hadrian Clog.

"The Sunshine Panner Steel band will sprinkle the event with a dose of Caribbean warmth.

"The day will end with music from local musicians including Amy Ridley.

"A raffle will raise money for good causes in Allen Valleys.

"On Sunday, it is our traditional day of music, now named Sunday Sessions.

"Visitors will be treated to an array of music styles.

"We will also be running the legendary wheelbarrow race.

"Come and bask in the sun and enjoy a wonderful and laid-back day of free entertainment."
