MUSIC will ring out over Prudhoe as a new event is set to take place.

Music by the Riverside will see local artists perform at the town's riverside park amphitheatre.

The event, organised by Prudhoe Community Partnership, will be opened by BBC weatherman Paul Mooney.

The afternoon session, beginning at 1pm, will see performances from Prudhoe Community Band, Prudhoe Gleemen, Prudhoe Community Choir, the Wild Women of Wylam and the Dragon Tale Theatre group.

And from 7pm-10.30pm, the Whistle Testers, Tom Cantwell and Caroline Guirr, Calum Tordoff and Heartbeat will entertain crowds.

“The Prudhoe Community Partnership is delighted to be coordinating this new event to support the local community, businesses and performers", said chair Caroline Warburton. "It’s hoped that this may become an annual event.”

The free event will be held on Saturday. Donations welcome.

Attendees should bring a picnic, rugs, chairs and blankets.

Picnics may be ordered in advance from the Riverside Café, Café No 22 and the Bait Box. Come Dine with Me: The Professionals winners Ball’s of Prudhoe may also deliver fish and chips ordered in advance.
