LOCAL employers are being encouraged to sign up for a jobs fair to find prospective employees.

The Tynedale Jobs Fair will return to Hexham's Wentworth Leisure Centre on October 20.

The fair, run by MP Guy Opperman, is being sponsored by Egger and supported by Hexham Jobcentre Plus.

The 2021 fair saw over 75 employers showcase their business to jobseekers.

Guy Opperman MP said: “We are encouraging employers to sign-up.

"The jobs fair is a brilliant opportunity to showcase your business to the local community and speak to potential future employees.

"I look forward to seeing as many local employers as possible this year.”

Last year, hundreds of jobs were on offer from employers including Britishvolt, Nissan, Network Rail, Aldi and McDonalds. The event also had a ‘Kickstart Zone’ for young people on Universal Credit, and a dedicated CV writing advice area.

"The Tynedale Jobs Fair was a great opportunity for local job seekers", said a 2021 attendee. "And it was good to see a wide spectrum of employers showcasing their offering and potential openings, including additional support to help people like myself back into the workplace.

"I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to apply for a guest services assistant role at the Landal Kielder Waterside and applied that afternoon.

"I was so excited to find out that I had been successful and had been accepted for the position.

"Since starting, I feel privileged to work in such a beautiful location and environment with such a friendly, supportive and welcoming team.”
