MP GUY Opperman has praised the work of service men and women in honour of Armed Forces Day.
Armed Forces Day fell on June 25 and celebrates those who make up the forces community.
It comes as a military parade is due to take place in Hexham next month.
Guy Opperman MP said: "Armed Forces Day is a brilliant opportunity to thank our brave service men and women for the great job they do all year round in protecting us.
"We recently celebrated Liberation Day in the Falklands 40 years on. We will never forget those who fight, and sometimes die, for freedom.
"I was honoured to recently visit the local Regiment, the 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, at Albemarle Barracks.
"It was a privilege to have discussions with the people who keep us safe. The 3RHA currently have 300 personnel serving with NATO colleagues on the Estonian border with Russia, deterring further aggression from Putin.
"I look forward to their military parade through Hexham, which is taking place on Saturday, July 16."
