FESTIVAL organisers have released an official statement on whether Corbridge Festival is taking place this year.
Organisers announced the summer music festival would not be taking place in 2022, but has been rescheduled for the third time.
"We are so sorry that we've not communicated earlier with you. Please stick with us until the end of this message - we still have big plans for 2023 but it's with a heavy heart that we have to announce that the Corbridge Festival 2022 will not be going ahead."
Ticket holders were left without updates for months on if the festival was going ahead, or how to arrange refunds for tickets which cost hundreds of pounds.
Some have now had refunds supplied through contacting Corbridge Festival directly on social media or through Ticketmaster, and the organisers have apologised for the delay in communications.
Previously hosted by Tynedale RFC, it was announced earlier this year the festival would no longer be taking place at that venue.
"Despite our very best efforts, we have simply been unable to secure a suitable venue. Covid forced us to postpone the event in 2020 and 2021.
"We poured our efforts into finding the perfect new venue to host the 2022 event, somewhere which would accommodate a growing event with world-class acts and a boat load of talent.
"We pushed on organising it but sadly, the new venue on which we had pinned our hopes and with whom we'd spent a number of months negotiating terms, let us down."
It went on to say: "We had big plans - we hoped to make up for the lost years, to compensate for two years of missed memories and to make things up to you."
However, the festival is now being organised for 2023.
"We have our eye on a breathtaking site and we promise to hold on to the line up and deliver the most incredible event next year.
"We asked you to allow us to hold on to your ticket money because we had every intention of putting the event on and whilst we acknowledge that there are other live music events taking place this year, circumstances are different for each event.
"If you decide to hang onto your tickets, this will mean the world to us and they will, of course, be valid for next year.
"For those of you who have applied for a refund through our ticketing agent, we understand and we hope to see you again in the future.
"We will make an announcement about Corbridge Festival 2023 as soon as we can but rest assured, it will happen and it will be magnificent," the statement concluded.
