1 The Ramblers, Corbridge
Readers said the restaurant they missed most was The Ramblers. "Wow, yes, they were superb," one reader said. Another said: "Best restaurant ever."
2 Branches, Stocksfield
"I used to love Branches in Stocksfield," one reader commented, while another said: "Our absolute favourite place." Others said the restaurant was 'divine'.
3 Franco's, Prudhoe
The Italian restaurant was a popular venue in Prudhoe. "The food was amazing when Michael ran the place," one reader said. Readers said after it was took over, it was 'never the same'.
4 Artisam, Corbridge
One reader said: "Artisam Chinese restaurant in Corbridge was amazing." Another said it was 'a really good Chinese restaurant.'
One Google review said: "Brilliant blend of traditional and contemporary cuisine. The staff were very helpful and friendly."
Another reviewer said: "Excellent food. A little on the pricey side but large portions and excellent service. Can recommend the hot and spicy soup to start and Four Seasons main, a delightful medley of flavours showcasing the chefs talents."
5 Thai House within Coach and Horses
Also missed was the Thai House. According to one reader it 'was amazing'. "It moved to Newcastle so is still going but I definitely agree it's a miss in Hexham," another explained.
"My favourite by far, it was lush food," someone added. The restaurant was housed within Hexham pub, The Coach and Horses.
One TripAdvisor review said: "Arrived unannounced to a very warm welcome - but not over the top. Great service - fresh ingredients and wonderful flavours. They hadn't been open long - a real find, we will return."
Another said: "It was an unusual setting for a Thai meal but the food was excellent and the service attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning. There were not many people in the restaurant but it was a Thursday evening in Hexham and the restaurant is very new.
"Once word gets about I suspect it will fill up," they added.
6 Fortinis, Hexham
"Fortinis, used to dine there a lot with our dear mum," one reader reminisced. Others said they had 'great memories' of the restaurant.
7 The Tone Inn
"The Tone Inn in Birtley. Was the best Sunday Carvery around for miles," one reader said. Others agreed, saying the gravy and pizza was also a big miss.
8 Argyle Cafe, Hexham
One reader said they missed Argyle Cafe for its 'proper British cooking.' The cafe used to be located at The Ropery, a Grade II listed building.
9 Il Piccolos, Prudhoe
"Il Piccolos' in Prudhoe was amazing. Chef and team were wonderful. Good memories," one Facebook reader said. Another said they 'miss having Il Piccolos in Prudhoe'.
10 Diwan E Am, Hexham
The Priestpopple-based Indian takeaway and restaurant was also mentioned by readers. One Google review said: "The menu was very extensive with some unusual choices. The food was superb. The best Indian food I have ever tasted. The lamb was tender, sweet and the spices were absolutely spot on. Superb."
Another reviewer said: "The service was fantastic, the scene was warm and comfortable and the food was simply outstanding."
