Conservative MP for Hexham Guy Opperman is now the longest serving Pensions Minister after he reached his five year anniversary.
Mr Opperman, who has been an MP for Hexham since May 2010, was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions on June 14 2017 and took on the role from John Penrose.
He said: "From over 10 million savers being auto enrolled on a workplace pension, to cracking down on pension scams and harnessing pension power to play a part in delivering Net Zero to the UK by 2050, I am proud at what we’ve achieved.
"I want to thank all the civil servants for all their hard work and support throughout the last five years.
"There is always more to do and I am excited for the challenge ahead.”
