A CELEBRATION concert of music and poetry will be held at a Tynedale church next month.
The concert, at St Peter’s Church, Bywell, will take place on July 2 at 7.30pm.
Choral music performed by the Brampton Consort will be accompanied by poetry readings by Ovington writer Martyn Halsall.
The Consort, acclaimed for their performances in England and Germany, will include historic music by Tallis, Purcell, Byrd and Dowland, alongside modern pieces by Peter Maxwell Davies, and the Consort’s resident composer Martin Johnson.
Martyn Halsall will read from his poetry collection Passing Place which explores issues of history, and the environment.
The Rev Dr Pat Moran Gonzalez, Priest in Charge of Bywell and Mickley, said the concert would celebrate the church being able to welcome back its local community, and those from further afield, to its first social event after the Covid restrictions of the last two years.
Tickets for the concert cost £10 (including a drink) and can be obtained by emailing stocksfieldchurchofengland@gmail.com (subject line ‘Concert Tickets’), by messaging the 'Bywell St Peter' Facebook page, or from Stocksfield Village Store.
