THE Northumberland National Park Foundation is looking to recruit two new trustees.

The Foundation was originally established in 2014 to help fundraise for the development of The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre.

Lady Sarah Riddell, who chairs the NNPF, said: "We have seen, and are continuing to see, increasing numbers of visitors to the National Park, attracted by its rich landscape, its beauty and the possibilities of exploration and discovery during difficult times.

"We are looking for two new trustees who have an understanding of either environmental priorities – climate change, nature and biodiversity, culture and heritage – or of engagement, outreach, inclusion, and diversity.

"As we, in this region, continue to recover from the pandemic, we have learnt the importance of nature and wellbeing in our lives. Our strategic aims, aligned with those of the Northumberland National Park Authority, are focused on a green and inclusive recovery for everyone so that nature, wider society, communities and the economy all recover together side by side.

"If you believe in our work, and that of the National Park Authority, and have the enthusiasm, energy and commitment to support the Foundation and its mission at this critical time, we very much look forward to hearing from you," she said.

The Foundation has so far secured funding for peatland restoration, biodiversity projects and planting initiatives to boost species and improve habitats.

The deadline for applications is Monday, June 27.
