1. Hjem, Wall

The Michelin starred restaurant has more than 100 reviews and has a full five star rating. 

Serving European, Swedish and Scandinavian dishes, customers highly rated it for food, service and value. "Most definitely one of the best restaurants we have had the pleasure of dining at. Food and service exceptional," one review said. 

"The flavours just build and build, it gets to a point when "Wow" just isn't a sufficient superlative and there are no words to express the genius in the precision of tastes and presentation to the dishes," they added.

2. Zyka Boutique Restaurant, Hexham

Rated four and a half stars from more than 600 reviews, the Indian restaurant is highly rated for food, service, value and atmosphere. 

"Excellent meal with excellent service. The food was beautifully presented and each course lived up to expectations. An interesting menu, not just the 'usual'. I would recommend this restaurant and will return," one review said.

3. Danielle's Bistro, Hexham

The bistro serves a range of European and British dishes, including crispy duck leg, flattened pork medallions and slow braised beef. 

"Went for an evening meal, friendly welcome upon arrival. Food was excellent quality, sticky toffee pudding to die for! Nice ambience in the place," one review said. 

"Plenty of choice, I had halloumi and veg skewers which were delicious, as was the rice pudding. Great value for money and good quality food," another added.

4. Cilantro, Hexham

With more than 200 reviews, the Indo-fusion restaurant combines Indian spice with Latin American flavour to create a unique range of tapas dishes, and has a five star rating. 

"So glad we picked this unusual restaurant opposite Hexham abbey. Easy parking, quirky interior, great staff and food - well, that tops the lot. Tapas and Indian. It works - be prepared for some spice, but the flavours shine through. So sad we are travelling onwards tomorrow," one review said. 

Another said: "The unique menu attracted us to book here and we weren't disappointed. Service was wonderful, staff so friendly and we had a mixture of tapas and tradition curries. 

"There was too much choice and we ordered way too much but it was delicious. The tapas dishes were so tasty and really good."

5. Stalida Greek Taverna, Hexham

Nearly 300 reviews give the Greek restaurant a five star rating. 

One review said: "The whole evening was perfect in this small family run restaurant."

Another commented that the food and service were high quality, and there was a pleasant atmosphere. "The starters are very large so one between two is quite adequate.

"The mains were gorgeous and again, very big portions. This was my first visit to Hexham and if I return I will be coming here again."

"Great Mexican food and drinks, very authentic. Enjoyed it thoroughly with family," one reviewer said. "Service was fast and always with a smile. Live music was the bonus," they added. 

7. Rose and Crown, Slaley

One review said the British pub was 'stunning'.

"Stunning steak pie tonight, packed with succulent meat, perfect pastry and lots of veg to accompany. Best I've had for years. Great service and lovely pint of Pennine from Allendale brewery. Will be back soon." 

The bed and breakfast serves traditional dishes, including Cumberland sausage, salmon fillet and beer battered fish and chips.

8. Carts Bog Inn, Langley-on-Tyne

"We both opted for chicken 'supreme' with haggis, wrapped in prosciutto ham and served with a delicious pepper sauce. The meat was moist and firm, the haggis and ham were both great and the sauce was very tasty," one review said.

Another review said: "The Famous Bog Pie is a must for anyone visiting for the first time."

"Had coffee and cake which was very nice indeed. A little hidden gem make sure you call in if in the area," one review said.

One review said: "Visited on Friday for lunch and sat up on the sun terrace. Lovely place with excellent food and service.
