AN apartment building on the site of a former swimming pool has been formally launched.

Brochures, floor plans and information on apartment types at The Wool House, Gilesgate, Hexham, were all exhibited at an event held at the Beaumont Hotel.

Construction work started on the site some months ago.

Over 30 interested parties attended the launch event with others requesting information be sent to them.

“We were very pleased with the reaction we received, with the penthouse apartments a particular draw”, said Bob Skelly, director of Hexham Wool Warehouse, the development company behind the scheme. “Without exception, everyone was delighted by what they saw.

“Pricing was the word on everyone’s lips, but with the well-known and much-publicised increase in the cost of supplies, we can only currently give a rough guide to costs per square foot until later in the year when we will be able to achieve more clarity.

“We have experienced a great deal of interest in the apartments and will hold another event later in the summer when we open the show apartment. Until then, potential buyers should speak to our agent for more information or sign up to our mailing list so that they can be sure they get updated information as soon as it becomes available.”

The Wool House will have 45 one and two-bedroomed apartments, duplexes and penthouses across six floors.

“Quite simply, there is no other development like it in Northumberland, let alone Hexham, because it combines a superb location in the heart of a bustling market town and offers a high specification of build and finish with a wide choice of accommodation”, said Kim Harrison for selling agents Youngs RPS. “It also has the added benefits of on-site parking and private gardens.

“We are really excited to be involved in such a fabulous scheme, which will make a major contribution to the choice of housing on offer in and around the town.”

The show apartment should be open by the end of September and the costs of the individual apartment types should be agreed by September/October.

The development is expected to be completed around Easter 2023.
