THE kids arm of Hexham Book Festival has announced new acts to its line-up.

Chores - a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival which combines acrobatic and slapstick comedy - will join more than 40 events as part of StoryLand.

There will also be free aerial displays from Circus Central’s Five Ring Youth Circus, taking place in Sele Park near the bandstand on June 11 and 12.

Best-selling authors including Chris Haughton, Jim Smith and M G Leonard and North-East based Jenny Pearson, Helen Stephens and Sara Ogilvie will all be at the festival.

Interactive performances will include a celebration of 25 years of Harry Potter and some homegrown shows with a brand-new imagining of The Secret Garden and Paper Cuts, a circus theatre performance from the North East’s CIRC Motif.

StoryLand festival programmer Sharon West said: “Tickets are selling fast but there’s still time to book onto events that will entertain and inspire children of all ages.

"We are excited to bring StoryLand to Northumberland and look forward to welcoming all readers, dreamers, and believers.”

StoryLand is made possible by funding from The Gillian Dickinson Trust and Arts Council England. It runs from June 10-17 alongside Hexham Book Festival.
