NEW CCTV cameras have been installed at a vandal-hit school.
Northumberland County Councillor Ian Hutchinson has helped Haltwhistle First Academy become more secure by using £3,000 from a capital grant scheme to install 10 security CCTV around the building.
The councillor's action was prompted when it was vandalised a few months ago.
Although this is the first incident of vandalism at the school, Cllr Hutchinson said:
"As a safety precaution from the grant scheme I gave £3,000 to the school which allowed them to buy and install 10 CCTV cameras to put around the building including the caretaker's house," he said.
"It is the first time something like this has happened but I thought it would be better that we put some prevention now for any further crime at the school to keep everyone safe."
