AN independent electrical retailer is thanking customers for their continued support in its 30th year of trading.

Glen Dickinson has always been involved with electricals in some way or another – his first job being at an electrical store and later, at an electrical goods research company.

He and partner Sarah set up G&S Electricals, in Prudhoe's Front Street, in 1991. It specialises in large electrical appliances, such as washing machines, cookers and fridges.

First occupying a small premises on the town’s high street, the business relocated to its current site about 22 years ago as business boomed.

Three years ago the business joined the biggest electrical buying group in Europe to give customers greater choices and prices.

Over the years, G&S Electricals has seen changes in shopping habits as more people favour efficiency, economy and appearance. The Covid pandemic also saw more people support local.

“We must be doing something right if we’re still going and people are still supporting us”, said Glen.

“We try and do a great job and hopefully, next time round, when people need something, they’ll come back again. If you look after people, they’ll come back. You’ve got to try and do what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it.”

Just Glen and Sarah work in the store, helping to build good customer relations.

Glen added: “People come in and they know who they’re going to see.

“People still like to be able to see stuff, rather than just an image on the screen, and knowing the stuff you’re selling is obviously a big plus.

“If someone’s not sure what they need, then being able to talk to somebody whose experienced and knows the stuff is good for them. They’re getting the right thing for them and something that’s going to do the job they need it to do.

"We can't believe how fast the years have gone by. We would like to thank all who have supported us over the years- it has been, and continues to be, a pleasure serving everyone.

"We want to carry on here doing a good job."
