An event organiser thanks the local community for its effort in raising funds for Ukraine Red Cross.

Over thirty musicians performed at the 'Concert for Ukraine' at Riding Mill Parish Hall on Sunday, 15 May.

Organiser of the event, Simon Probyn was thrilled with the village's effort to take part and attend the evening.

"I came up with the idea of the concert about six weeks ago and I was shocked when it quickly gathered support from other local musicians," Simon said.

"The vital support came from many volunteers both in publicizing the event and organising the hall. Linda Shepherd not only handled the ticket sales but also organised the raffle and the team from Station House provided the bar."

"This evening was a great success in so many ways.

"We managed to raise £2500, which will go directly to the Ukrainian Red Cross.

"It was a wonderful collaboration of so many people within the village and a truly uplifting way to spend a Sunday evening.
