AN ADULT drama group from Hexham will next week get the chance to finally meet their Dutch counterparts who they worked alongside during lockdown.

Sarah Kemp, joint artistic director of touring theatre company Théâtre Sans Frontières (TSF), runs an adult drama group, particularly aimed at older people.

During lockdown, they worked alongside a similar group in Amsterdam, making films online.

Recently, the Dutch director Loes Hegger came to Hexham to run a day-long workshop with the group.

And now, members of the group based in Amsterdam are also coming to Tynedale to present their new show 'The Fifties' at the Queen's Hall on Friday, May 20.

The show is based on true stories from their parents’ lives in the 1950s.

Sarah said: "They will be staying with members of the Hexham group and the two groups will be participating in a joint drama workshop together, as well as social activities, including visiting Hadrian's Wall and going to a ceilidh hosted by the Hexham Village Ceilidh Band."

Sarah will also be hosting a taster drama session for people interested in joining the group. The session will also take place at the Queen's Hall on Friday at 10.30am.
