ACTIVE Northumberland has launched new aqua natal pregnancy classes at some of its pools.

Classes run every Tuesday at Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham, and Berwick Sports Centre, and include gentle exercise, relaxation and fun.

The sessions are being run in partnership with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, whose midwives have been through accredited training to lead the clasess.

Jemma Burt, active wellbeing coordinator, said: “Swimming and exercise in water is a relaxing, beneficial and safe way for pregnant women to exercise.

“If you fancy giving the classes a go, please get in touch. They will be fun and informal and as they are run by trained midwives, you know you will be in safe hands."

The aqua natal classes are part of Active Northumberland’s popular Mams on the Move programme which runs classes designed to help encourage women into safe, effective exercise classes and reap the physical, social and mental health benefits this brings.

Classes run on Tuesdays 11am-12pm and cost £4 per session or are free to Active Northumberland members.
