A PROGRAMME of jazz music is planned for Hexham Abbey with top performers from around the UK.

The Hexham Jazz Committee, together with Hexham Community Partnership, supported by Hexham Town Council and Hexham Rotary, with sponsorship from Egger UK Ltd, has organised a weekend of jazz for the town.

The event, thwarted due to Covid two years ago, will see artists including Jo Harrop, Paul Edis and Graeme Wilson, Hot Club du Nord, Dean Stockdale, James Kitchman with Bruno Heinen, and the Abbie Finn Trio, perform.

The profits from the Hexham Jazz Festival will go to Cancer Research in association with Newcastle University.

Researchers at Newcastle will be able to continue their fight on behalf of those living with cancer, working towards a day when the disease becomes a fully curable or manageable condition for everyone diagnosed; one in two people in the UK will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.

The festival, which will run from May 13-15, will have a licensed bar; Allendale Brewery has produced a special Jazz Festival ale.

Tickets are available from The Queen’s Hall.
