HEXHAM Abbey will provide the backdrop for a varied and colourful exhibition this month as a group of local artists make their return.

Woven textile artist Jill Dexter, painter Claire Myers, painter and printmaker Lindsey Cooper, and landscape photographer David Taylor will be reuniting as ‘Artists in the Abbey’ with an exhibition in the North Transept.

Along with displays of the artists’ work, visitors will also be able to enjoy watching new pieces taking shape, as well as chatting to the artists about their work and inspirations.

David said: “We always look forward to reuniting as a group for this special event.

"It is such a pleasure to welcome visitors and to share with them the joy we experience in creating our work.

"The Abbey is a particularly inspiring setting, and we feel very privileged to be able to exhibit there.”

The exhibition opens on Monday, May 16 and closes on Saturday, May 28. The artists will be at the Abbey every day from 10am until 4pm (subject to opening hours and services).
