SOME 80 crews have signed up for the Kielder Forest Rally.

The high-speed dash through Kielder Forest's demanding tracks will see participants head up the North Tyne valley on June 18.

The rally has attracted a wide variety of machinery with no fewer than 13 different makes represented on the entry list. Included amongst them is Land Rover, which will see a whole squad of the unique Bowler Defenders taking part, competing in their own, very keenly fought series.

The rally will be a round of a selection of other championships, including the MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series, The Motorsport UK English Rally Championship, The SG Petch / ANECCC Stage Rally Championship and the Motoscope/ HRCR Northern Historic Rally Championship.

"With some extremely rapid drivers signed up for all of these series, the competition is sure to be fast and furious as the crews go head to head over the challenging and demanding Kielder Forest tracks which are sure to be a stern test of man and machine", a spokesperson said. "There is a good reason the area is known in rallying circles as 'Killer Kielder.'
