A NEW photography gallery is set to open in Hexham.
Pete Wilkinson, a photographer and filmmaker, was born in Hexham and grew up in Fourstones.
He will open a new photography gallery in the centre of Hexham, titled 'The Wynd', on Saturday, May 28.
Pete said: "After many years travelling for film and photography shoots it feels wonderful to be creating a base in my hometown.
"Like for most people the past two years have been transformational for me; the pandemic meant spending a lot more time locally with my camera and I was reminded how lucky I was to have such beautiful and characterful landscape on my doorstep. I hope people will stop by the gallery and enjoy seeing local scenes they might recognise in some magical conditions."
The gallery will display fine art prints of images captured around the Tyne Valley, including some which have been shortlisted for UK Landscape Photographer of the Year, the British Photography Awards, and Outdoor Photographer of the Year.
Named after its location near St. Mary's Wynd in Hexham, 'The Wynd' will open its doors at 10am on Saturday morning.
Those attending on the day will receive a 10 per cent discount code and will be entered into a prize draw to win a signed and framed print of Pete's image, 'The Wall'.
The gallery will sell and display fine art prints of Pete's landscape photography, handmade photobooks and greeting cards.

Pete has travelled extensively for his practice as a photographer, and in the future 'The Wynd' will feature work captured across locations as varied as the Scottish Highlands, Switzerland, Austria, Madeira, and Australia.
He has produced video content for clients including The Tower of London, English Heritage, Barclays, and the British Library.
Pete started shooting stills in 2015 when out hiking and over the past seven years, this hobby has become a profession along with his film work. His images have featured in Vogue and Conde Naste Traveller, as well as several national newspapers.
