EVENTS will be taking place in Hexham from Monday May, 16 until Sunday, May 22 to mark the occasion of Dementia Action Week, organised by Alzheimer's Society.

This year, the theme encourages people to seek medical help to get a diagnosis of dementia and to access help and support from Alzheimer's Society.

The new information booklet for 2022 will be circulated, displayed in local shops and organisations. 

A spokesperson for the charity said: "This year we're covering the whole of Northumberland. As you can imagine it's been a huge project."

The Alzheimer's Society will hold a Drop-In Information Day from 10am until 3pm on Friday, May 20. The event will take place in 'The Community Space' at Newcastle Building Society on Beaumont Street.

The building society are providing free use of the space and tea and coffee.

The charity are holding a Dementia Friends Information session for Hexham Town Council and others who may be interested in attending, from 6pm until 7pm on Monday, May 16 at the Beaumont Hotel.

A Dementia Friendly screening will be held at the Forum on Friday, May 20 at 1.30pm. This will screen the Beatles' iconic final performance on a London rooftop.

As always, the screening will be open to all, but the lights will be kept low and the volume turned down to make it a more comfortable experience.
