A fire service team has been recognised for its work in the community and support of Ukraine.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue has collected an award to celebrate and recognize the work the crew has done.

The award was from Kost Radio, which set up the competition for the public to decide who got the recognition.

The public was able to vote for other public bodies and community groups that they thought helped the community the most via a poll and Northumberland Fire and Rescue came out top.

Station manager Joe Hunter said: "The award was presented after firefighters took part in a national convoy delivering equipment and vehicles to Poland as part of a national response coordinated by Fireaid to the ongoing war in Ukraine."

"Collecting the award was seen as recognition of the great work being carried out throughout the service and within the wider communities of Northumberland by many amazing people."
