AN OUTBUILDING could be converted into new holiday accommodation.

Jane Fleming has applied to Northumberland County Council seeking permission for a change of use of the barn north east of Holms House, at Sinderhope.

In a design and access statement submitted alongside the application, architect Steena Steward said the two-storey barn has been restored with "obvious holiday let potential".

"In converting the barn we have ensured that its architectural character has been retained," she said.

Two mirrored one-bedroom units are both accessed from the existing front door, the statement said.

It added: "The proposed developments sees the re-use of an existing building with no impact on the rural location.

"The scale and appearance does not have an adverse effect on the neighbouring properties or the wider area of North Pennines AONB."

According to the plans, the barn would be heated electrically with foul drainage to a new water treatment plant to the west of the building.

Parking for the holiday let units are situated in front of the converted garage.
