A LOCAL environmental group is to mark Earth Day.

Earth Day (April 22) is celebrated by more than a billion people every year in a bid to create global, national and local policy change.

Slaley, Hexhamshire and Healy Community Environmental Group are to host an event at Slaley Commemoration Hall as part of the day of action. The event will start at 4pm. 

Group members will give talks on solar energy, recycling, and other green initiatives. There will also be quizzes, displays and children’s flower painting.

The group will also be asking attendees to commit to “just one thing” - to make one lifestyle change to make the earth a better place and tackle climate change.

Refreshments and organic wine tasting will be available.
