A HEADTEACHER is stepping down from his role after 10 years in the position.

Kieran McGrane, Headteacher of Ponteland High School, will remain in post until the end of the calendar year in December 2022.

He will move to the role of Pele Trust Chief Executive Officer on a full-time basis, and said it has been a difficult decision to make.

"I absolutely love the job of being a headteacher and particularly so in our wonderful school," Kieran said.

He added: "Given the recent government White Paper, and the move towards all schools being part of a Multi-Academy Trust, Pele Trust Directors believe this is the right time to move to a full-time CEO as we look to manage potential expansion in the coming months and years."

"We have worked hard to establish Pele Trust, built on clear values and principles, and we need to ensure that this continues to be the case as we increase the number of schools we work with."
