A SPORTS centre is appealing for the public's help to contribute to their ambitious relaunch project.

The RTC Sports Centre, which serves the Rede, Tyne, and Coquet communities, is appealing for help to ensure their "Big Relaunch Project" is a success.

Based in Otterburn, the centre is run by a group of Trustees on behalf of the local community.

Peter Murphy, one of the RTC's new Trustees working on the project, said: "The project will develop new activities and complete the refurbishment of 30 year old facilities, which have great potential, and will develop a strategy to sustain the centre for generations to come."

Work is already underway, including a new work and meeting space for use by the community which has been created, a roller disco that will launch for young people, a plan for restoring the old court area is in motion and the centre's website is being redesigned to make the centre more accessible.

The centre is now open for use, and will add new services and events for the whole community to partake in, and future goals will be developed to ensure a lasting legacy.

Peter said there are many ways to contribute to this unprecedented project, including by applying to be a Trustee.

"We welcome Trustees from a range of backgrounds to help to develop this fantastic facility, whether you have just a little time to spare or a lot, so if you have any skills or ideas to offer us, please get in touch."

People can also help by responding to the RTC's "Open Ideas" survey through their website or by forms available at the centre and around the community. Whatever the idea, big or small, they want to hear what the public would like from the centre.

The centre's Easter Holiday Sports Camp will start from Tuesday, April 19 until Thursday, April 21, and will include football, basketball, rounders, and arts and crafts.

A packed lunch is required for the event, which will run from 10am until 3pm.
