A NUMBER of volunteers turned out to help create a new woodland area in Tynedale.
Last week, a group of volunteers from Hexham Rotary Club and the National Trust began planting trees near Broomhouse Farm at the Bellister Estate outside Haltwhistle.
Rotarian Rob Hart said: "The group spent the morning planting and staking out a variety of species that will in time grow to enhance the landscape and just as importantly help reduce our carbon footprint."
He added: "There was such a good turnout of volunteers that what could have been a long and arduous day turned into a really pleasant morning of both work and chat.
"The good weather on the day was also a welcome bonus."
