A sports club will be trialing a girls-only class to encourage a 'pathway' into football.
Steve Cheal, of Newcastle, owner of Supastrikers North East is hoping to see if only girl football classes can encourage girls to take an interest in football.
"We think this class is fantastic access to sport for girls.
"Some girls have found that the mixed class can be a bit boisterous for them and don’t enjoy that environment and drop out of the sport.
"This class will enable them to try new sports, in particular, football to see if they like it.
"We aim to create a fun, safe environment for girls to come along where they will be playing football with other girls and enjoy playing sport. “
The classes will be at Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham from Saturday, 30 April at 09:00-10:00 am.
