Annual Haltwhistle hay show was hailed a success after a large turnout and was able to raise £1,445 for The Great North Air Ambulance.

Oragnisers of The Featherstone Hay Show, welcomed back compitors for the first competition since Covid.

The competition has been an annual event since 2018 and raises a substantial amount of money each year for The Great North Air Ambulance.

Competitiors had three categories to compete in; hay, silage and clamp silage. The winners were awarded a trophy for each class.

Explaining the comeptition, one of the committee members Laura Nancarrow said :

"Farmers bring a sample of their hay and silage to be judged and the best in each category wins a prize!

The event was hosted by The Wallace Arms in Haltwhistle.

Laura said: "It was handy that we have the pub to hold it at. 

"It was a great turn out and the event went really well.

"We would like to thank our sponsors; i’anson, Carrs Billington, Hexham and northern marts, Burrow and Rutter-Armstrong and Gildersale nursery.

"Also our hosts the Wallace arms, we have had a final count up and raised a massive £1455."
