RESTAURANT Pine has become Northumberland's second Michelin Starred restaurant.

On Wednesday (February 16), chefs Cal Byerley, Ian Waller and their team at the Vallum Farm-based eatery discovered they been awarded a Michelin Star in the Michelin Guide and a Green Star for Sustainability.

This year, due to the pandemic, the announcements were made online via social media.

"Being presented with these accolades by the world’s leading food bible is a glowing testament to the sheer hard work and determination of the entire team at Restaurant Pine, including myself, Cal Byerley, Ian Waller and Vanessa Stoltz", said co-owner Sian Buchan.

The restaurant is a place where British food triumphs, underpinned by Byerley and Waller’s deep understanding of provenance and produce.

Chefs Cal Byerley and Ian Waller commented: "Being awarded both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star is something we didn’t expect, especially after everything the hospitality sector has experienced in recent times.

"We can’t describe how stunned the entire team are. It’s been an amazing journey so far and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve all achieved.

"It’s always been about the food we create at Pine. Everything is about our surroundings and our sense of belonging to this place. The food we create is a reflection of our collective passion for the amazing larder we are lucky to call home - Northumberland.’’

Restaurant Hjem,Wall, also has a Michelin Star.
