A NORTHUMBERLAND business will attend the final of the Rural Business Awards 2021/2022 as one of three shortlisted for their outstanding business accomplishments.

Langley Furniture Works, based in Hexham, have been shortlisted amongst two other local businesses for their success in the industry.

The Rural Business Awards, held in partnership with Amazon, will see businesses compete across the UK to be named among the best businesses in the country.

Langley Furniture Works, a family run business, was shortlisted in the Best Rural Creative or Artisan Business category. Geoff Jackson, owner of Langley Furniture Works, said: "To be recognised at the regional finals was such amazing news for our family run business."

"We want to thank Amazon and the Rural Business Awards for giving businesses like ours a boost with these awards," he went on to say.

Langley Furniture Works is a specialist joinery company, created by Geoff Jackson after he spent years working in industries including agriculture, forestry, and sawmilling. He was inspired by the natural beauty of the rural landscape, which led to the business being formed.

John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager of Amazon said: "We are proud to continue our support of the Rural Business Awards. They are a great way to highlight the entrepreneurial spirit and the achievements of the many fantastic businesses in the rural sector across the UK."

"On behalf of everyone at Amazon, I would like to wish all of the finalists from Northumberland the best of luck ahead of the final," John added.

The company designs joinery projects for public organisations, charities, and private individuals. The range of projects includes green oak canopies for the National Trust, furniture restoration at Auckland Castle, and local Glamping Longboat Cabins.

The Rural Business Awards 2021/2022 will mark the Awards' seventh year of celebrating the success of businesses in the UK's rural sector.

Created by Leicestershire businesswomen Anna Price and Jemma Clifford, the Awards were set up to display the wealth of entrepreneurial talent in rural areas of Britain.

Anna Price said: "We are excited to host a seventh year of the Rural Business Awards, and every year the competition gets tougher to judge. It’s an honour to showcase the fantastic talent of the rural sector in the UK and we wish the Northumberland businesses good luck ahead of the final."

Geoff said: "We’re so excited to take our place at the national final."

The other two shortlisted Northumberland businesses include Otter Handmade from Rothbury in the Best Rural Start Up Business category, and Calibrate Energy from Belford for the Best Rural Innovation category.

The winners will be announced in the virtual ceremony which will be held on Thursday, February 24.
